Grown on the slopes of Mount Etna, our dried sage captures all the aroma and intensity of this extraordinary aromatic plant. Its name comes from the Latin “salus,” meaning “health,” because its beneficial properties have been known since ancient times. Sage is a versatile ingredient always ready to make your recipes, even the simplest everyday ones, more delicious and flavorful.

Sage is a natural remedy for digestive problems, thanks to its essential oils capable of relaxing the muscles of the gastrointestinal system. Sage has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, which is why it is extremely useful in inflammation of the respiratory tract and, if used in the form of a compress, it can also heal wounds.

1) Crispy breading

Mix breadcrumbs with dried sage for a flavorful coating on breaded vegetables, cheeses, or tofu.

2) Pizza and focaccia toppings

Sprinkle dried sage on the dough before baking for an extra touch of flavor.

3) Sage leaves fried in batter

Dip fresh sage leaves in a light batter of flour and sparkling water, then fry them in hot oil until golden brown. Crispy and tasty, they make an original appetizer or side dish.

4) Butter and sage for the pasta

Melt butter in a pan with a pinch of dried sage to season gnocchi, ravioli or fresh pasta. Especially with pumpkin, ricotta or potato fillings.

Creamy Lemon Trofie with Crunchy Sage

Cook the trofie in salted water and in the meantime prepare the sauce by melting the butter with dried sage, lemon zest and juice, then add cream and parmesan until you get a creamy sauce. Fry some floured fresh sage leaves to make them crispy. Drain the pasta and toss it in the sauce with a little cooking water to blend the flavors well. Serve with black pepper and the crispy sage leaves for an aromatic and refined touch.
