Boniviri, an innovative Sicilian startup and benefit corporation specializing in the production of high-quality and sustainable foods, has signed a partnership agreement with Linkem SpA, a leading Italian operator in the ultra-broadband wireless telecommunications sector, to offer farmers participating in the Boniviri project innovative Agriculture 4.0 services.
The Linkem4Farm smart agriculture services, developed in collaboration with xFarm and Farm Technologies, involve the use of an integrated digital platform for business management connected to a sensor system that communicates with a mobile app, all through the cloud. Using smartphones and tablets, farmers will be able to digitally manage and coordinate administrative business activities, automate tasks such as inventory control, machinery maintenance, and export of specific documentation required for companies operating in organic farming, including documents specific to GlobalGap members.
Thanks to the agreement with Linkem, the farms participating in the Boniviri project will also be enabled to use the platform’s Decision Support Systems, which, through AI-based predictive models, will allow real-time consultation of field data—such as soil moisture and temperature, salinity, conductivity, leaf moisture—and receive precise agronomic advice, for example on when and how to irrigate, thus improving production quality and management and effectively planning fieldwork.
"Boniviri’s mission is to create value with food for all actors in the agri-food supply chain, from farmers to consumers, and the partnership with Linkem represents a further step toward achieving the goals outlined in our Impact Map," said Corrado Paternò Castello, co-founder and CEO of Boniviri. "Thanks to this agreement, we will be able to provide our partner farmers with innovative tools under favorable conditions to make business management more efficient and improve the productivity and sustainability performance of their activities."
"Through the partnership with Boniviri, we aim to enhance and further accelerate the digital transition not only in large national companies but also in small local realities that have so far struggled to approach new technologies," said Daniele Righi, Chief Innovation & Business Development Officer of Linkem. "Linkem4Farm’s technological solutions will enable increasingly comprehensive digitalization of the agricultural supply chain, and we hope they will indirectly help guarantee the excellence of the final product from companies in the Sicilian territory, a source of pride for Made in Italy internationally."
Thanks to Linkem4Farm, Boniviri takes another step toward achieving the environmental and social goals indicated in the Impact Map, the strategic document that identifies the company’s mission and long-term objectives based on the SDGs (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals): safeguarding valuable small Italian farms by making them prosperous and sustainable, making Boniviri products as eco-friendly and high-quality as possible, and bringing the world of growers closer to that of consumers through sustainability.
The Linkem4Farm solutions will be added to the integrated ecosystem of services offered to Boniviri farmers, which will improve business management in terms of productivity and sustainability, thanks to mapping business performance through innovative digital solutions and identifying actions to reduce the environmental impact of field activities.
