Nero d'Avola is a native Sicilian grape variety, a key player in the rediscovery of Sicilian wine worldwide starting from the 1980s and 1990s.
The Baglio Diar bottle produced in Mazara del Vallo offers a fresher and more original version to taste this grape in its pure form.

  • Grapes: 100% Nero d'Avola
  • Designation: D.O.C. Sicilia
  • Harvest: Harvested during the nights of the first ten days of September.
  • Vinification: After a particularly gentle pressing of the grapes, fermentation takes place over 12 days at a controlled temperature of 15°C.
  • Aging: The wine then matures in steel tanks for 3 months. Bottle aging for at least 1 month.
  • Alcohol content: 12%
  • Serving temperature: 8°C
  • Pairings: Pairs well with spicy main courses and tomato sauces. Try it with raw shrimp and gourmet exotic fruit salads.
  • Appearance: pale pink color
  • Nose: enveloping aromas of fresh fruit like strawberry and mango with hints of mint and pink pepper
  • Palate: lively acidity, light body, and delicate tannins. On the palate, notes of sour cherry, pomegranate, and fennel are perceived, leaving a pleasant freshness in the mouth.

Know who makes it

Cantina Baglio Diar

For over twenty years, Biagio and Nicola di Girolamo have been leading certified organic and vegan viticulture, based on rigorous and transparent choices: vineyards free from contamination, natural treatments with copper, sulfur, and organic fertilizers, and only plant-based auxiliaries used in the winery.

The vineyards extend in the southwest of Sicily, between Trapani and Mazara del Vallo. The different altitudes, from sea level up to over 250 meters, allow each grape variety to be best enhanced: Grillo and Inzolia, for example, are grown at sea level where they benefit from the same pleasant salinity that can be found in the glass. Zibibbo, Catarratto, Perricone, and Nero D’Avola, on the other hand, are found at altitudes above 250 meters above sea level where, thanks to the temperature difference between day and night, good acidity is promoted, which is excellent for making aromatic or more structured wines fresh and elegant.
