Although agriculture continues to play an irreplaceable role in mitigation, agricultural products, through their entire life cycle, can cause an impact on climate warming. For example, the analysis of the life cycle of extra virgin olive oils has shown that among the most impactful phases of the supply chain are those related to the cultivation of olives, the production of packaging materials and the distribution of the finished product. By purchasing Boniviri products, you can be sure that their carbon footprint will be measured and reduced to zero, thanks to the commitment of the growers and millers and to the emissions offsetting program carried out by Boniviri.

In 2020 Boniviri carried out a product Carbon Footprint study. By interviewing stakeholders in a Boniviri production chain, involving one of the partner growers and an olive mill, it was possible to collect data on the carbon footprint of a 750 ml Boniviri bottle. From the fuel used for the tractor to the transport of the olives to the oil mill, every step was carefully traced.

This study was then re-elaborated and digitized using the Climate Impact Forecast tool. In this way it was possible to estimate the impact of a bottle at 2.88 kg CO2 eq.

Once the emission impact has been estimated, Boniviri offsets the emissions generated through a reforestation project in Italy, making the emission impact of its extra-virgin olive oil carbon neutral.

Thanks to these choices, those who buy Boniviri oil are buying a product that is carbon neutral: a positive choice for the environment and for future generations.
